The ‘Justice League’ chaos continues. Warner Bros. has reportedly thrown out the script for DC Comics mash-up movie, apparently unhappy with the direction of the superhero project.
This comes just a day after influential comic-book writer and ‘Kick-Ass’ scribe Mark Millar publically criticised Warner Bros., calling the film “an excellent way of losing $200m.”
Multiple sources for movies site Badass Digest are claiming that writer Will Beall’s screenplay has been completely scrapped by Warner Bros…. because it’s apparently terrible.
The script would have seen DC heroes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash take on bad guy Darkseid and an as yet unnamed “cosmic threat”. However if the script is now gone, so are the characters.
This latest setback to the ‘Justice League’ – the DC equivalent to Marvel’s ‘Avengers’ – come just a day after Mark Millar told SciFiNow that Warner Bros.’ choice of characters were “outdated”:
“The characters were created 75 years ago, even the newest major character was created 68 years ago,” said Millar. “They’re in a really weird time.”
The ‘Kick-Ass’ and ‘Wanted’ writer then went on to slate Warner Bros.’ approach to bringing mismatched characters such as Green Lantern and The Flash to big screen, adding: “The actual logistics of each member of the ‘Justice League’ is disastrous, and you put them all together and I think you get an excellent way of losing $200m.”
The ‘Justice League’ movie is currently still on for a 2015 release date.
